Trump Announces CFTC’s Efforts to Bring Hyperliquid to the US: HYPE Surges 16%
Donald Trump announced that CFTC Chairman Mike Selig is working to bring Hyperliquid to the US in a fully compliant and legal manner; following the announcement, HYPE briefly rose from $62 to $72.3.
U.S. President Donald Trump, speaking at an event with tech leaders at the White House, said that CFTC Chairman Mike Selig is working to bring Hyperliquid into the US market. Trump stated that this process will proceed in full compliance with laws and regulatory rules.
The announcement does not mean that Hyperliquid has commenced operations in the US or received official regulatory approval. The development announced by Trump indicates that efforts are ongoing to make the platform accessible within a legal framework in the country. Therefore, the development is not yet a finalized approval or launch.
During his speech, Trump also touched upon Selig’s previous steps in the Bitcoin market. He mentioned that in May, Selig allowed the first “real” Bitcoin perpetual futures contract on a CFTC-registered exchange. Perpetual futures refer to derivative products that have no expiration date and allow trading based on Bitcoin price movements.
HYPE price rose 16 percent following the announcement
Following Trump’s announcement, Hyperliquid’s native token HYPE gained approximately 16 percent in value in a short-term move. The HYPE price rose from approximately $62 to $72.3.
The price action occurred immediately after the announcement. However, the current development reveals that rather than Hyperliquid beginning to provide services in the US, work is being carried out to bring the platform to the country in accordance with regulations.
