Major Partnership Between S&P Dow Jones and Pantera Capital: Only 18 Revenue-Generating Altcoins Made the List
S&P Dow Jones and Pantera Capital have launched a new digital asset index for institutional investors, focusing on projects’ actual revenues and use cases.
Aiming to raise institutional standards in the cryptocurrency market, S&P Dow Jones Indices and Pantera Capital have launched the S&P Pantera Digital Asset Index through a strategic partnership. Unlike traditional models that only track price increases or popularity, this index offers a disciplined structure based on the financial fundamentals and real-world economic impacts of projects.
Consisting of a total of 18 different assets, the index aims to provide investors with a safer and data-driven benchmarking tool. Managed by a set of rules similar to indicators in the traditional financial world, this structure facilitates the inclusion of crypto assets into institutional portfolios.
Revenue and Liquidity Criteria for Crypto Assets
The criteria set for projects to be included in the index reflect a highly selective approach. For an asset to enter the list, it is required to have a market capitalization of at least $500 million, and newly added assets must remain above a certain liquidity ratio. Projects take their place in the index by being ranked according to the revenue they generated in the last two quarters. This system ensures the elimination of projects that do not produce economic value.
The top five assets in the index include Ethereum (ETH), Binance Coin (BNB), Solana (SOL), Tron (TRX), and Hyperliquid (HYPE). Data shows that this strategy provides an annual return of 8.18 percent and stands out from other broad-based indices in terms of risk-return balance. In the weighting within the index, the largest asset is balanced to take a 35 percent share, while others take a maximum of 20 percent share.
