Wall Street Giant’s $5.5 Trillion Move: The Future is Taking Shape with This Altcoin
Thomas Sy, an executive at New York Life Investment Management (NYLIM), stated that the future of asset management lies in personalized portfolios powered by tokenization, and that this technology will offer customized solutions for retail investors.
Giants of the traditional finance world are increasingly embracing the possibilities offered by blockchain technology. Thomas Sy, head of multi-asset solutions at New York Life Investment Management (NYLIM), explained that tokenization technology offers a revolutionary opportunity not just for faster transactions or seamless trading, but for the fundamental reconstruction of investment portfolios. According to Sy, creating personalized portfolios for retail investors will become scalable to a much broader audience thanks to blockchain technology.
The Era of Personalized Investment Through Tokenization
NYLIM has accelerated its steps in this area by partnering with Centrifuge (CFG) to bring institutional bond strategies on-chain. Thomas Sy emphasized that scaling personalized strategies is difficult due to the complexity of the current financial system, but with tokenization, this customization can be embedded directly into the asset itself. According to Citi’s estimates, the tokenization of real-world assets (RWA) could reach $5.5 trillion by 2030. This growth will create a more efficient environment for investors by reducing operational costs by 10% to 20%.
Stating that stablecoins serve as a bridge in the institutional adoption process, Sy expressed that this market exceeding $300 billion plays a critical role in attracting institutions on-chain. NYLIM is also closely following the decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem. However, Sy believes that infrastructures such as tokenized collateral and central clearing services must reach a more mature level for broader institutional participation. As seen in the visuals, the digitalization of financial processes and the simplification of complex structures are among the industry’s most important agenda items.
