World’s 2nd Largest Ethereum Treasury Breaks Silence: First Purchase After 8 Months
Sharplink, which holds one of the world’s largest Ethereum treasuries, broke its eight-month silence by adding 5,000 ETH to its portfolio.
While fluctuations in the cryptocurrency markets continue, a notable accumulation move came from the institutional side. According to data shared by on-chain analysis platform EmberCN, the giant treasury company Sharplink purchased 5,000 Ethereum (ETH) worth approximately $7.85 million on Thursday.
This purchase was recorded as the company’s first major move since last October. Arkham data shows that the transfer in question was made through the crypto brokerage firm FalconX. The company last attracted attention eight months ago by purchasing 19,270 ETH worth $78.3 million.
Sharplink’s Ethereum Strategy and Institutional Position
Sharplink currently holds the position of the world’s second-largest public Ethereum treasury, holding 876,285 ETH worth approximately $1.3 billion. However, on-chain data reveals that the company’s average purchase cost is at the $3,609 level, and it is facing an unrealized loss of approximately $1.79 billion in current market conditions.
Recently, the company has not only settled for staking—the method of generating income by locking assets—but has also begun focusing on different yield strategies. In line with this vision, it also supports the Ethlabs initiative, which aims to accelerate the institutional adoption of the network. While the Ethereum price fell by 5 percent in the last 24 hours to the $1,534 level, the Bitcoin (BTC) price is trading around $58,787. Despite this general market pullback, Sharplink’s purchase shows that the institutional appetite for long-term accumulation continues.
