Robinhood CEO Charts New Course for Crypto: Focus on These Assets Instead of Meme Coins
Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev has stated that the future of cryptocurrencies lies not in meme coin projects, but in the digitalization of real-world assets (RWA).
The financial giant Robinhood is clarifying its strategy in the cryptocurrency sector with concrete steps. In an interview with CNBC, the company’s CEO, Vlad Tenev, pointed out the rapid convergence of traditional finance and the crypto world, stating that the true growth potential of digital assets lies in moving tangible assets onto the blockchain.
According to Tenev, if an asset lacks an underlying use case or utility, it does not hold productive value. Arguing that the creation of millions of different meme coins does not contribute to the industry in the long term, the CEO emphasized that the focus should shift toward real-world assets (RWA). In line with this vision, Robinhood announced its “Stock Tokens” service, where users can trade stocks 24/7. The company is also working on new models that will provide investment opportunities in major private companies like OpenAI.
Cryptocurrencies Are Transforming into Financial Infrastructure
Despite general market volatility, increasing institutional interest stands out as the brightest spot for the sector. Although the price of Bitcoin (BTC) has lost approximately 30 percent since the beginning of the year, falling to around $61,601 levels, Tenev does not view this situation as a permanent winter. On the contrary, he states that blockchain technology has become an infrastructure that feeds and modernizes financial markets.
Stating that every financial instrument operating in traditional systems will eventually be tokenized and moved on-chain, Tenev compared this process to an unstoppable freight train. He added that while major assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum (ETH) will maintain their importance, the industry’s next big leap will occur with the digitalization of all tangible assets, from real estate to stocks. This expansion strategy, also reflected in the company’s visual identity, aims to spread the digital asset ecosystem to a broader base.
