US-Iran Tensions Send Oil Prices Soaring, Shake Bitcoin: Inflation Fears Grip the Market

The escalation of military tension between the US and Iran, along with rising oil prices, has created intense selling pressure on Bitcoin (BTC) and the overall cryptocurrency market.

The reigniting of global geopolitical risks has triggered a flight from risky assets while increasing the search for safe havens in financial markets. As the US and Iran launched reciprocal airstrikes, the leading cryptocurrency began to decline. This situation has caused investors to shift their focus away from cryptocurrencies and toward traditional assets like the US dollar and oil.

Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, lost nearly 1% during Asian trading hours, retreating to the $62,657 level. Other major assets also took their share of this downward wave in the market. Altcoins such as Ethereum (ETH), XRP (XRP), and Solana (SOL) experienced declines ranging from 1% to 2.3%. During the same period, oil prices rose by more than 2%, reaching $72.27.

Geopolitical Tension and Inflation Concerns

Sharp fluctuations and the downward trend seen in technical analysis charts prove that market uncertainty is deepening. The US striking Iranian targets in response to attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz has triggered fears of a global inflation shock. This sudden rise in oil prices is pushing up consumer price expectations, strengthening the possibility that central banks may implement interest rate hikes.

High interest rates cause investors to turn toward safe bonds instead of high-risk assets like cryptocurrencies. Current data and the negative trend on trading screens suggest that the pressure of geopolitical crises on digital assets may continue for some time. With the prospects of a ceasefire in the region weakening, investors are exhibiting a more cautious stance by reducing their risk appetite.
