Major Move by 27 Giants Including OKX and MetaMask: ‘Internet Court’ Established for AI

The “Internet Court,” established with the support of giants such as OKX, MetaMask, and Matter Labs, introduces a new standard for resolving commercial disputes between AI agents.

Twenty-seven leading firms from the cryptocurrency and Web3 world have launched the Internet Court project to address issues that may arise in transactions conducted between artificial intelligence (AI) agents. This protocol, brought to life under the leadership of the Genlayer Foundation, aims to resolve contractual disputes encountered by software trading without human intervention at machine speed.

Today, AI agents can negotiate and execute payments with each other without human involvement. However, just like in human transactions, contract-based disputes can arise between these digital entities. Since traditional legal systems cannot manage such rapid and technical processes, AI-based payment, escrow, and dispute resolution systems have become a necessity.

A New Era in AI Commerce

Albert Castellana, CEO of Genlayer Labs, states that the current AI commerce infrastructure is highly fragmented. While many different systems exist, ranging from Google’s A2A protocol to Coinbase’s x402 payment standards, their interoperability remains a major challenge. The Internet Court brings these various layers together, securing the financial commitments of AI agents.

As represented in the visual, the interaction between two competing digital intelligences is no longer just about data exchange; these processes must be established on a legal foundation. Within the scope of the project, technical standards such as the MetaMask Smart Account Toolkit and ERC-7710 are used to make the identity and authorization processes of AI agents more secure. In this way, the flow of money between machines is protected by a fair adjudication process, also overseen by machines.
