Massive Altcoin Dominance: 2 Altcoins Capture 80% of the Market

According to The Block Data & Insights, Solana (SOL) and Hyperliquid (HYPE) are demonstrating significant growth potential by dominating 80 percent of the exchange-traded fund (ETF) market outside of Bitcoin and Ethereum.

While investor focus in the cryptocurrency market is generally on spot Bitcoin and Ethereum funds, altcoin-based investment products are experiencing a quiet but powerful rise. In particular, Solana and Hyperliquid, which was launched just two months ago, are drawing attention as new hubs for institutional interest. These two assets are making their presence felt in the sector by outpacing the fund volumes of all other altcoins in the market.

According to current data, Solana ETF products have reached a total of $904 million in assets under management. Hyperliquid funds, a new player, managed to attract $350 million in net inflows in a short period. These figures prove how rapidly both projects have gained acceptance among institutional investors.

Significant Growth Potential for the Altcoin ETF Market

Current data shows that altcoin funds are still at the very beginning of their journey and have significant room for expansion. Bitcoin ETFs represent approximately 9 percent of its total market cap, while this ratio currently stands at just 2 percent for Solana and Hyperliquid funds. This distinct gap indicates that altcoin-based funds could reach much larger volumes as investor adoption increases.

Differences in investor profiles are also shaping the future of these funds. While Bitcoin and Ethereum appeal to a more passive and long-term audience, assets like SOL and HYPE attract investors with a high risk tolerance who focus on technological developments such as real-world asset (RWA) integration. Clarity in regulatory processes and the strengthening of institutional infrastructures by these projects could lead to even deeper interest in these funds in the coming period.
