BlackRock and Strategy Take Action for Bitcoin: Massive $15 Million Move Against Quantum Threat
The world’s largest financial giants and cryptocurrency companies have established the Bitcoin Security Consortium with a $15 million budget to ensure the security of the Bitcoin network and take precautions against the quantum threat.
Bitcoin is moving beyond being an institutional investment tool and entering the technical protection shield of global financial giants. Led by Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy), industry giants have joined forces to ensure the long-term security and stability of the leading cryptocurrency. This initiative proves once again that Bitcoin is not just a financial asset, but also a global technological infrastructure that must be protected.
The founding members of this massive collaboration include market-leading institutions such as BlackRock, Coinbase, Galaxy, Anchorage, ARK Invest, Blockstream, Block, Fidelity and Digital Asset. Consortium members have committed to allocating a total fund of $15 million to support Bitcoin developers and security research over the next three years.
Massive Defense Line Against the Quantum Threat
The primary focus of the consortium is to prepare for the long-term impacts of quantum computing on Bitcoin cryptography. Aiming to protect the network’s encryption infrastructure against future technological developments, this initiative will fund the existing open-source developer community and research projects instead of directly managing Bitcoin’s development.
With this step, industry leaders aim to increase the resilience of the Bitcoin protocol and provide continuous support to the global security community. The gathering of the biggest names in the financial world shows that the technical security of the Bitcoin (BTC) network has now become one of the top institutional priorities. With this funding process, the goal is for the network to achieve a much more resilient structure against potential future attacks.
