Sleeping Giants Awaken in Bitcoin: 3,848 BTC Move After Long Period of Dormancy
The sudden transfer of 3,848 Bitcoins (BTC) that had been dormant for a long time has increased concerns that selling pressure may arise in the market.
All eyes in the cryptocurrency market are once again turned to the moves of long-term holders (LTH). According to the latest data shared by the on-chain data platform CryptoQuant, a massive amount of Bitcoin (BTC) with a market value of approximately $242.5 million was moved in the last block. This situation has sparked great curiosity among investors, signaling that “sleeping giants” have awakened.
The relocation of a total of 3,848 Bitcoins is generally interpreted as large investors potentially realizing profits or moving their assets to different wallets. Especially in this period where the price is following a volatile course, the transfer of such a large amount can directly affect the liquidity balances in the market. The data shows that these assets have been waiting in wallets for a very long time without any transactions.
Are Long-Term Investors Preparing to Sell?
When analyzing the shared chart data, a very sharp increase is observed in the Spent Output Age Bands. This technical indicator allows us to track when Bitcoins of different age groups move. The sudden peaking of vertical columns in the chart proves that not only assets waiting for a few months, but also those held in wallets for 6 months to 1 year or even longer have moved.
While Bitcoin price has recently been trying to hold at the $63,000 level, the occurrence of such large transfers is technically critical. If these assets are transferred directly to exchanges, a downward selling pressure could form on the price. However, if the transfers are solely for wallet management or institutional restructuring, this market activity is expected to create temporary volatility rather than a permanent decline.
