Global Payments Giant Visa Moves for 18 Billion Endpoints: Stablecoin Era in Cross-Border Payments

Through its collaboration with Zero Hash, Visa is adding stablecoin support to the Visa Direct platform, offering fast and flexible cross-border payment capabilities to more than 18 billion endpoints.

Global payments giant Visa is expanding the capabilities of the Visa Direct network with blockchain technology by signing a strategic partnership with digital asset infrastructure provider Zero Hash. With this move, eligible businesses can now use stablecoins to pre-fund merchant accounts and send payments directly. This integration further strengthens the bridge between traditional financial systems and digital assets.

Visa Direct provides access to more than 18 billion endpoints, including cards, bank accounts, and digital wallets, in over 195 countries and regions worldwide. Mark Nelsen, Global Head of Product at Visa, stated that stablecoins make money movement much faster and more flexible, especially in cross-border transactions. Zero Hash CEO Edward Woodford emphasized that this partnership will accelerate global adoption by bringing access to on-chain money directly to Visa’s main network.

Stablecoin Era in Cross-Border Payments

The new integration offers businesses 24/7 liquidity management and transaction completion flexibility, while allowing recipients to access funds much faster via stablecoins. Founded in 2017 and reaching a $1 billion valuation in its latest funding round, Zero Hash provides critical technological infrastructure in this process. As one of the first firms to obtain a license and Electronic Money Institution (EMI) status under Europe’s MiCA regulation, the company adds strong regulatory assurance to the process.

Visa’s move is part of the company’s broader blockchain strategy. The payments giant, which is developing its own internal stablecoin platform and supporting projects like OUSD, believes these technologies will play a fundamental role in the future agentic economy model. The company’s corporate strength continues to shape the future of digital finance with such innovative steps.
