A Crypto First from Sam Altman’s Project: 1 Gigagas per Second is Coming
World Chain aims to reach a transaction volume of 1 gigagas per second by testing Ethereum’s future Glamsterdam update today with new technology it will deploy on August 17.
World Chain, used by OpenAI founder Sam Altman’s digital identity project, is taking a revolutionary step in the layer-2 world. On August 17, the network will activate EIP-7928 Block Access Lists (BAL) combined with Flashblocks architecture on the mainnet. This move will make World Chain the first network to use this technology in a production environment, providing a critical preview for the Ethereum ecosystem.
While validators check transactions sequentially in traditional methods, the new system allows transactions to be verified in parallel. This will bring the network’s capacity to 1 gigagas, meaning one billion gas units per second, without the need to increase hardware power. Flashblocks technology will allow transactions to be confirmed almost instantly by providing a data stream every 200 milliseconds.
Ethereum’s Future is Taking Shape on World Chain
This technological leap serves as a laboratory for the Glamsterdam update that the Ethereum mainnet plans to implement in the second half of the year. Testnet data proved that verification times remained constant even as transaction volume increased. This shows that blockchain networks can manage higher transaction loads without needing massive computing power.
Although BNB Chain (BNB) has taken a similar step before, World Chain distinguishes itself with Flashblocks integration. This Optimism (OP)-based structure is considered one of the most concrete steps toward creating permanent solutions to Ethereum’s scalability issues. The project, which stands out with its corporate identity in the visual, proves with this move that it is not just an identity solution but also a technical pioneer.
