Coinbase’s ‘Everything Exchange’ Move: 4,000 Giant Companies Can Now Be Purchased with USDC
Coinbase is merging traditional finance and the crypto world on a single platform by opening trading for approximately 4,000 U.S. stocks with USDC and sterling for its users in the UK.
The cryptocurrency giant Coinbase has begun offering U.S. stock trading to its UK users as part of its “Everything Exchange” strategy. With this move, the exchange stands out as the first crypto-native platform to integrate traditional investment instruments by moving beyond digital assets.
Investors can now manage approximately 4,000 different stocks alongside their crypto assets through a single application. The ability to fund transactions with both British pounds and the stablecoin USDC provides investors with great flexibility and a liquidity advantage when moving between assets. The zero commission advantage offered on the platform and the fractional share option (purchasing a small portion of a share) starting at just £1 make it easier for retail investors to become partners in giant companies. The ability to trade seamlessly 24 hours a day, 5 days a week eliminates the restrictions of traditional stock exchange hours.
Coinbase and the Everything Exchange Vision
Coinbase UK CEO Keith Grose stated that this launch is a critical part of the goal to bring traditional finance and on-chain finance together under one roof. Grose noted that by prioritizing legal compliance through their MiFID license in the UK, they will bring more financial products to users. In particular, access to popular U.S. companies in the AI sector aims to increase the participation of British retail investors in global capital markets.
The company plans to include innovative solutions such as tokenized stocks in the system in the future. The clarifying crypto regulations in the UK allow Coinbase to build a comprehensive financial ecosystem where it offers services such as savings, lending, and stock trading together.
