Crypto Investors Shift Course: Traditional Finance Volume on Gate.io Skyrockets by 3,000%
According to CryptoQuant data, the trading volume of traditional finance (TradFi) products on the Gate.io exchange has surged by 3,000% since the beginning of the year, proving a growing investor interest in stocks and commodities.
A significant paradigm shift has been emerging in the cryptocurrency markets since 2024. Investors are no longer settling for digital assets alone; they have begun turning toward traditional finance instruments via crypto exchanges. On-chain data shared by CryptoQuant reveals that this trend has transformed into massive growth, particularly on the Gate.io platform.
While the traditional finance trading volume on the exchange was only 0.14% at the beginning of January, this rate rose to 4.7% by the end of July. This represents a 3,000% growth in a short period of just seven months. In particular, the high return potential offered by artificial intelligence-focused stocks has been one of the biggest factors shifting retail investor interest to this area. Although futures and the spot market remain dominant in the shared data, traditional finance volume is seen to be expanding steadily.
Crypto Exchanges Are Turning into Multi-Asset Hubs
This shift indicates that crypto-native capital is now moving toward multi-asset classes and that exchanges are transforming into financial hubs. Instead of searching for different platforms to access stocks, precious metals, and other traditional instruments, investors prefer to use their existing crypto accounts. This situation increases user retention on the platform while preventing capital from leaving the ecosystem.
The diversity offered by platforms like Gate.io accelerates both retail and institutional investor flows. Although traditional finance products still account for a small portion of the total volume, the growth momentum achieved provides significant clues about the market’s future structure. With the wide range of products they offer, cryptocurrency exchanges are becoming comprehensive hubs where not only digital assets but all financial instruments are traded.
