Popular Altcoin SUI Takes Action Against Future Threats: Protective Shield with Two New Protocols
Sui (SUI) is securing user accounts by integrating two new NIST-approved signature protocols into the network against potential security risks posed by future quantum computers.
As security standards in the cryptocurrency world evolve daily, Sui (SUI) has already begun taking strategic measures against the technology of the future: quantum computers. The network announced it will incorporate post-quantum signature schemes into the system to secure user accounts and high-value asset vaults. This move aims to increase the resilience of digital assets against potential future cyberattacks and ensure the long-term security of the network.
The Sui team will use the ML-DSA-65 protocol for daily transactions and the SLH-DSA-SHA2-128s method for high-security private vaults. Concerns that existing cryptographic methods—namely encryption techniques—could be cracked by advanced quantum processors prompted the project to take this step. Protecting data now is of critical importance, especially against the risk of attackers harvesting data today to decrypt it with quantum devices in the future.
No New Wallet Required for Quantum Security
The greatest convenience for users is that they will not need to create new recovery phrases or move their assets to another address to benefit from this high-level security update. Thanks to Sui’s flexible infrastructure, new quantum-resistant keys can be generated from existing seed phrases. This process will be added to the system as a protocol update performed without disrupting the network’s core operations.
While quantum-protected vaults are planned to be launched on the mainnet within this year, testing processes for individual accounts are expected to continue until the end of 2026. Although these new signature methods cause a small increase in transaction sizes because they enlarge digital signature sizes, the Sui team states that this is a reasonable price to pay for full security.
