Shocking Decision from South Korean Giant Exchange: Popular Altcoin to Be Delisted!
Upbit, South Korea’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, has announced its decision to terminate trading support for an altcoin.
According to the announcement made on Upbit’s official website, Bonk (BONK) will be delisted from the platform. BONK will cease trading in Korean Won (KRW) and Tether (USDT) pairs on September 7, 2026, at 15:00.
Upbit stated in the announcement that all pending buy and sell orders for the relevant pairs will be automatically canceled once trading support ends. The announcement also emphasized that services such as airdrops, wallet upgrades, and hard forks for the asset in question will no longer be supported following the delisting decision. Investors have been given until October 7, 2026, to withdraw their assets; the exchange warned that transactions after this date may take a very long time due to technical difficulties.
In the exchange’s statement, deficiencies in security standards and transparency issues were cited as the reasons for BONK’s delisting. As a result of the investigations, it was determined that unclear security incidents occurred in the asset’s management processes and that critical information was not disclosed to investors in a timely manner. The project, which was placed in the ‘warning’ category in July to prevent investor grievance, was decided to be delisted after it was concluded that the necessary improvements had not been made.
