BlackRock Reveals Critical Shift in Bitcoin: Investors Take Action with $853 Million
BlackRock, the world’s largest asset management firm, announced that investor perception of Bitcoin (BTC) has shifted and the leading cryptocurrency has begun to decouple from equity markets.
Recent fluctuations in the cryptocurrency markets have not escaped the attention of institutional giants. BlackRock Head of Digital Assets Robert Mitchnick stated that during this period where the Bitcoin (BTC) price has been hovering between $60,000 and $65,000, there has been a significant shift in investor perspective. According to Mitchnick, Bitcoin has now begun to forge its own path by breaking its link with traditional stock market indices.
The Link Between Bitcoin and Stocks Is Breaking
Mitchnick emphasized that Bitcoin has decoupled from stocks since the beginning of the year. The official noted that while Bitcoin’s sideways movement was initially perceived negatively during the period when AI-focused stocks were hitting record highs, he pointed to the situation in July. Bitcoin’s strong performance during the major pullback in AI stocks was cited as the most concrete evidence of this decoupling. This situation reinforces the thesis of Bitcoin being viewed as a hedging tool within portfolios.
Record Inflow into Spot Bitcoin ETFs
Data proves that investors view Bitcoin’s dips as opportunities. Last week, US-based spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded their best week since mid-April, with a total net inflow of $853.5 million. The lion’s share of these inflows was accounted for by BlackRock‘s fund (IBIT) with $693.7 million. This investor interest demonstrates that Bitcoin continues to gain acceptance as a long-term store of value.
On the other hand, the security breach on the Coldcard platform, which led to losses exceeding $100 million, has also impacted investor behavior. Due to security concerns, many investors are observed to be moving their assets out of individual wallets and into ETF structures, which they find safer. Experts predict that this situation could further increase the demand for institutional funds.
