Bithumb Issues Hack Warning for This Altcoin: Deposits and Withdrawals Suspended

Bithumb has announced that it has begun implementing a transaction warning status for The Sandbox (SAND) in accordance with its virtual asset transaction warning designation policy.

According to the exchange’s official announcement, The Sandbox (SAND) has been placed under a transaction warning due to the detection of an unidentified or unresolved hack or similar security incident in the wallets or distributed ledgers where the asset is issued, transferred, or stored.

The transaction warning decision went into effect on August 24, 2026. Bithumb reported that deposits and withdrawals for The Sandbox (SAND) are currently suspended. An announcement regarding the extension of the status, its removal, or the termination of trading support is scheduled to be made between September 28 and October 2, 2026.

The exchange warned that the timeline may change depending on internal conditions. It stated that the status may be lifted if the reason for the designation is resolved within the transaction warning period.

Bithumb also explained that assets sent before the suspension of deposits might not be reflected in accounts due to network congestion or confirmation delays. It was stated that transfers occurring during the period when deposits are suspended cannot be processed and will be evaluated sequentially in the event of future termination of trading support or the removal of the transaction warning.
