Ethereum Whale Incurs $1.96 Million Loss, Keeps $100 Million Position Open
As the market declines, an Ethereum whale who closed a portion of their position with a loss of approximately $1.96 million is keeping an ETH position worth over $100 million open.
The account, tracked under the Machi label, closed part of its position about seven hours ago as the market retreated. The total loss from the closed trades was recorded at approximately $1.96 million. Despite this, the account holds a 41,000 ETH bullish position worth approximately $100.01 million.
According to data shared by Lookonchain, the $1.96 million loss belongs to the portion the account closed; results from the remaining open positions are not included in this figure. The remaining 41,000 ETH position stands as an open trade aimed at profiting from an increase in Ethereum’s price. Thus, the discrepancy between the realized loss and the high-value position still being carried is noteworthy.
The account’s total crypto exposure is $109.6 million
In addition to the ETH position, the account holds 75,000 HYPE worth approximately $6.03 million and 45 BTC worth $3.5 million. These assets are also listed as part of bullish trades.
The total value of the three positions reaches approximately $109.6 million. The fact that the distribution is 100 percent long indicates that the expectation of a price increase prevails in all of the account’s current trades. The position screen shows that the ETH trade is leveraged and maintains a size of approximately $100 million.

According to the data on the screen, the ETH position is carrying an unrealized loss of approximately $893,663.
