Publicly Traded Company Accumulating Bitcoin Buys 3,156 BTC: Can It Reach Second Place?
Strive increased its total holdings to 23,156 BTC by purchasing 3,156 Bitcoin in August; the exercise of warrants could provide hundreds of millions of dollars in funding for new purchases.
Speaking on the One Share podcast as reported by The Block, Strive CEO Matt Cole stated that the company experienced a significant acceleration in Bitcoin accumulation during August. If this pace is maintained and new financing is secured, Strive could climb higher in the Bitcoin rankings among publicly traded companies.
Strive purchased only 136 BTC in July, compared to 3,156 BTC in August. This brought the company’s total Bitcoin holdings to 23,156 BTC, with a value of approximately $1.9 billion. Last week, Strive surpassed Bullish to rise to fifth place among public Bitcoin treasuries.
Potential for New Financing in Strive’s Bitcoin Purchases
The company has a financing opportunity that could support further acquisitions. Strive has over $700 million in warrants that grant investors the right to purchase shares at a specific price. For these instruments to be exercisable, ASST stock must exceed the $27 level.
The warrants are set to expire in mid-October. ASST stock reached a yearly high of $26.84 on Thursday, sitting less than 1% below the exercise price. If the shares rise above $27, the company could use the cash proceeds from the warrants for new Bitcoin purchases.
Strive’s move to second place is not yet a foregone conclusion. Twenty One Capital, which currently holds that position, has 43,514 BTC. To close the gap, assuming its competitor makes no new purchases, Strive would need to buy approximately 1,200 BTC per week for the remaining 17 weeks of the year. It is noted that Twenty One Capital has not purchased new Bitcoin since July 2024.
