Major Crypto Exchange to Bring Back Discontinued Platform—with Stock Trading This Time
Coinbase said it has completed the Deribit integration as it plans to bring back its Pro platform for professional investors by the end of 2026, adding stocks and derivatives.
According to a company statement cited by The Block, Coinbase Pro will bring together futures, perpetual futures, options and stocks alongside spot trading. Redesigned for high-volume active traders, the platform will feature faster order routing and tools that support complex strategies.
Coinbase began phasing out its old Pro platform in 2022 and completed the migration of its advanced trading features to Coinbase Advanced in its main app in November 2023. The new announcement envisions the brand’s return with a broader range of products.
Deribit integration complete, access to roll out in stages
Coinbase announced that it had formed the Coinbase Global Exchange by integrating Deribit, which it acquired for approximately $2.9 billion in August 2025. The company aims to connect eligible U.S. clients to global crypto derivatives liquidity and bring U.S. and international markets together in a single liquidity pool.
Eligible institutional clients in the U.S. will be able to access Deribit options and perpetual futures through Coinbase Prime. Client onboarding is underway, and options trading is expected to open in the coming weeks.
Options access for eligible investors outside the U.S. is also planned for the coming weeks. Access for U.S. retail investors is expected to be available later in 2026.
Plan for up to 10x leverage on spot trades
The exchange also plans to introduce margin trading, allowing eligible users to borrow against their collateral to open larger spot positions. Leverage of up to 10x will be offered on select large assets and up to 5x on other supported assets.
Coinbase Advanced also announced new order-matching infrastructure, a streamlined client onboarding process and revised fee tiers. The new tiers start at $10,000 in eligible trading volume, combining spot and derivatives trades.
According to information provided by the company, Deribit’s open interest in Bitcoin options exceeded $30 billion as of September 30. The platform’s total trading volume last year was over $1 trillion.
