Investor Who Bought a Ledger Three Weeks Ago Had 7 Million USDT Stolen: Seller Detail Stands Out

Lookonchain reported that all 7 million USDT in the wallet of a user who bought a Ledger device from CryptoBilis three weeks ago was stolen.

In the on-chain tracking platform’s October 9 post, the user, identified as TY24Ya, had deposited 7 million USDT into a wallet they created after buying the device. The reported theft took place about 10 hours before the post.

Lookonchain said this could be the largest single loss among reports of losses linked to CryptoBilis. This comparison has not yet been confirmed.

Ledger had issued a warning about the same seller

The report of the individual loss came after Ledger issued a security warning about its authorized reseller, CryptoBilis. The company had asked customers who bought a device from the seller in the past 90 days and had not yet set it up not to begin the setup process.

Ledger had also advised customers who had set up their devices to consider moving their assets to another Ledger wallet created with a new recovery phrase. The seller was also asked to halt sales and shipments.

Estimated total losses approach $90 million

Lookonchain reports that total losses among users who bought devices from CryptoBilis are approaching $90 million. This figure is an estimate reported by the platform; Ledger’s investigation is ongoing.

Although the place where the device was purchased is known in the 7 million USDT incident, how the funds were taken has not yet been clarified.
