Tether Freezes Altcoin Project’s USDT, Reverses Decision Three Hours Later!
Tether’s temporary freeze of approximately 1.45 million USDT across four THORChain vault addresses on TRON caused TRON-linked swaps and some functions to stop.
According to a report by Wu Blockchain citing The Defiant, the addresses were removed from the blacklist about three hours after being added. The USDT balances in the vaults remained in place, while THORChain restored the affected services.
Team said it was not notified in advance
THORChain co-founder Chad Barraford said the team received no notification before the freeze. The decision led the protocol to temporarily halt its TRON-linked swaps and some functions.
The outage affected the USDT in four vault addresses. The affected services resumed after the addresses were removed from the blacklist.
19 other addresses in the same group remained listed
While the restrictions on the four THORChain addresses were lifted, 19 other addresses blacklisted in the same batch remained on the list at the time of publication.
Tether did not explain the reason for the freeze. A connection between the action and any specific cryptocurrency theft has also not yet been confirmed.
