Trading in traditional market assets on Gate reached nearly $100 billion in volume in 2026, while in the latest session, these products accounted for roughly $4 of every $10 in combined spot and traditional asset trading.
An analysis by CryptoQuant examining Gate’s charts shows that investors on crypto exchanges don’t trade only Bitcoin and altcoins. TradFi products, which provide access to metals, stocks, and other traditional markets, are becoming increasingly visible in the exchange’s trading activity.
The roughly $100 billion in trading volume accumulated since the start of the year has been accompanied by multiple sessions recently in which daily volume approached or exceeded $1 billion.
Which assets stood out on the crypto exchange?
In the latest session, metals accounted for about 59% of traditional asset trading, while stocks made up 30%. Together, the two groups reached a share of about 89%. Metals regained the lead in the breakdown, following a period in August when stocks stood out.
The approximately 40% share of TradFi trading was calculated based on the combined volume of spot and TradFi trading; crypto futures were excluded from this comparison.
New trading areas alongside Bitcoin and altcoins
Access to traditional market products using stablecoins allows investors to trade different asset groups on the same exchange. CryptoQuant views this trend toward diversification as a sign that the use cases for crypto infrastructure are expanding.
The analysis links gold to the search for protection against monetary risks, and stocks to access to corporate earnings beyond the crypto cycle. The key question for the coming period is whether traditional asset trading can maintain its high share after short-term market fluctuations have passed.
