Mysterious Whale Move on Binance: $81 Million in Bitcoin Withdrawn in One Go
A mysterious newly created wallet withdrawing approximately $81 million worth of Bitcoin from the Binance exchange has caused a major stir in the cryptocurrency world.
The movements of large investors, known as “whales” in the cryptocurrency market, continue to offer important clues about the market’s direction. A massive transfer reflected in on-chain data earlier today has raised questions about whether it is part of an institutional purchase or an individual strategy.
According to data shared by the analytics platform Lookonchain, a recently created wallet address starting with “bc1qwz” carried out a total withdrawal of 1,250 Bitcoin (BTC) from Binance. At the time of the transfer, the total market value of this massive asset was approximately $80.94 million.
From the Mysterious Whale: First a Test, Then a Massive Transfer
The process of this transfer was managed with a quite remarkable strategy. Approximately 30 minutes before the movement of the large asset, the wallet owner made a small test transaction of 0.00098 Bitcoin (BTC) to verify the address. Following the smooth completion of this test transaction worth about $63.2, the button was pushed for the actual big move.
Shortly after the test transaction, 1,250 Bitcoins from the Binance hot wallet were transferred to the new address in a single transaction. Withdrawing such large amounts of assets from exchanges generally indicates that investors are opting for a long-term holding strategy by moving their assets to secure wallets rather than leaving them on the exchange to sell. This situation creates an expectation that the selling pressure on the Bitcoin price in the market could decrease.
