Awakened After 7 Months: Giant Whale Moves $1 Billion Worth of Bitcoin in a Single Transaction
A massive whale wallet that stirred after 7 months of deep silence has transferred all of its 16,400 Bitcoin (BTC) holdings, worth approximately $1.04 billion, to a new address.
All eyes in the cryptocurrency market have turned to the sudden awakening of a massive wallet that had been dormant for a long time. According to information shared by on-chain data tracking platform Lookonchain, a whale address starting with “bc1qpt” broke its months-long inactivity to execute a billion-dollar transfer.
Arkham Intelligence data also confirmed this transaction, where exactly 16,400 BTC was moved to a new wallet in a single go. Looking at the history of the wallet in question, it is evident that this massive asset was accumulated about 7 months ago and had been held without any transactions since then. This transfer, exceeding a total value of $1.04 billion, has sparked great curiosity among market followers.
Will the Billion-Dollar Bitcoin Transfer Create Selling Pressure?
Activity of this magnitude typically triggers concerns about selling pressure among investors. However, experts remind that such transfers do not always signify preparations for a sale. Large whales sometimes take such steps for security reasons, to change institutional custody methods, or to move their assets to different wallet structures.
It is not yet known who owns the new wallet the transfer was made to or for what purpose it is being used. Due to this uncertainty, market participants are expected to maintain a cautious stance. Specifically, whether this will have a direct impact on the Bitcoin price will become clear depending on whether these moved assets are transferred to exchanges.
