Supply Shock Move in Ethereum from Tom Lee’s Company: $9.38 Billion Locked

Bitmine, the company founded by Tom Lee, is demonstrating institutional confidence by staking massive amounts of Ethereum (ETH) while preparing to shift market supply dynamics.

Well-known in the cryptocurrency world and recognized for his connection with Fundstrat, Tom Lee has taken his commitment to the Ethereum ecosystem to a new level through his company, Bitmine. According to data shared by the on-chain data analysis platform Lookonchain, the company staked an additional 150,120 Ethereum (ETH) within the last 3 hours. This latest move, worth approximately $278 million, has once again proven institutional investors’ unwavering confidence in the network’s future.

With this latest transaction, Bitmine‘s total staked amount has reached 5,067,309 Ethereum (ETH). This massive asset, valued at approximately $9.38 billion based on current market prices, accounts for 87.4% of the company’s total portfolio. As seen in the visual data, these bulk transfers conducted through different wallets are characterized as a giant institutional move towards the security and long-term potential of the Ethereum network.

Tightening Ethereum Supply and Price Pressure

The locking up of a large portion of assets by massive actors like Bitmine directly affects the circulating supply in the market. Staking a significant portion of the total supply could create a potential supply shock by reducing the amount of Ethereum traded on exchanges and ready for sale. If demand remains constant or increases, this situation has the potential to create significant upward pressure on the Ethereum price.

However, this strategy also brings some risks. Staking assets at such a high rate of 87.4% limits the company’s liquidity flexibility during sudden market movements. In a potential sharp decline scenario, the inability to quickly convert locked assets into cash could pose a risk on the institutional side. Nevertheless, Tom Lee’s move clearly demonstrates how deeply institutional interest in Ethereum has grown.
