Bitcoin Elite Class on the Move: Number of Giant Whales Hits 6-Month High
The number of whales, the largest investors in the Bitcoin (BTC) network, has reached its highest level in the last six months, signaling a strong accumulation signal in the market.
While uncertainties persist in the cryptocurrency market, remarkable activity is occurring on the side of the leading cryptocurrency. According to the latest data shared by the on-chain data analysis platform Santiment, the number of “elite” wallets holding at least 10,000 Bitcoin (BTC) has climbed to a six-month peak. This situation indicates that major players in the market view current price levels as an accumulation opportunity and have begun increasing their holdings.
Bitcoin Whales Returning to the Stage
Data reveals that there has been a net increase of 6 wallets holding 10,000 or more Bitcoin within the last eight weeks. This increase corresponds to a 7.1% rise, bringing the number of wallets with assets of this scale to 90. A decrease in the holdings of small-scale investors, namely micro-wallets, has been observed, particularly throughout August. Factors such as news of attacks on Coldcard wallets and delays in the CLARITY Act are causing fear and uncertainty among retail investors, while large hands are turning this situation into an advantage.
The shift of market supply from weak hands to stronger hands generally increases the likelihood of future price movements being upward. The acceleration of whale accumulation proves that market professionals’ long-term expectations are positive. As small investors withdraw from the market, the activation of elite wallets to this extent is interpreted as Bitcoin potentially preparing for a new upward wave in the coming period.
