What does the Bitcoin dollar price represent?
BTC/USD refers to the value of one Bitcoin in US dollars. Since the dollar is widely used for global crypto market comparisons, price levels in the news and market cap calculations are mostly given in this currency. The figure above is the indicator price from CoinMarketCap; it is not a binding trade offer from a single exchange.
Bitcoin can be traded every day of the week. Therefore, unlike stock markets, there is no common daily closing time for all platforms. It is important to know which time zone a daily close on a chart is calculated by. Additionally, the last 24-hour change does not always mean the change since midnight.
Are BTC/USD and BTC/USDT the same thing?
No. USD is the US dollar issued by the government; USDT is a stablecoin intended to track the value of the dollar. In the BTC/USD market, the price is expressed in dollars, while in the BTC/USDT market, it is expressed in USDT. Although USDT often trades close to one dollar, the two assets are not legally or technically the same.
For example, Bitcoin might appear as 60,000 USDT on one platform and 60,030 USD elsewhere. When evaluating the difference, the dollar price of USDT, trading fees, and transfer costs must also be considered. Not all of the difference seen between screens is risk-free profit. Deposit and withdrawal restrictions may prevent taking advantage of the difference.
Converting Bitcoin amounts to dollars
The calculator multiplies the BTC amount by the current dollar price. In the table above, the equivalents for 1 BTC, 0.1 BTC, 0.01 BTC, and 0.001 BTC are calculated with this price. You can change the amount field for your own balance. The calculated amount is the approximate value before selling commissions are deducted.
To find how much BTC can be bought with a dollar budget, divide the budget by the unit price. The amount table performs this calculation for 100, 500, 1,000, 5,000, and 10,000 dollars using the current price. If platform fees are deducted from BTC, the amount you receive decreases; if they are deducted separately in dollars, your total expenditure may increase.
How to calculate returns in dollars
To find the price return, divide the new price by the starting price, subtract one, and multiply the result by 100. For example, a move from $50,000 to $60,000 is a 20 percent increase. Conversely, a drop from $60,000 to $50,000 is approximately 16.67 percent. The reason the same amount difference yields different percentages is the change in the starting value.
Your personal return is not just the price change. If you bought at different dates, your average cost, amounts, and fees paid must be taken into account. When you deposit TL and then look at the dollar value, there is also an exchange rate effect. It is more descriptive to calculate Bitcoin’s dollar performance and the portfolio result in TL separately.
Comparing periods on the chart
The 24-hour view shows short-term movements, the seven-day view shows the last week, and longer periods show a broader price range. You can read the date and price of a specific observation on the chart by using your mouse or touching it. Use the reset button to return to the selected period after zooming.
Focusing the vertical axis on a narrow price range can make small changes look large. Look at the price level and percentage change alongside the visual slope. Comparing two charts based solely on how steep the line is can be misleading; the period, currency, and axis range may not be the same.
The line here consists of actual price observations. Since full open, high, low, and close data is not used, candlestick charts are not generated. The line between data points is a visual connection; it does not represent all transactions that occurred in that interval. Those with vision or interaction difficulties can open the data table below the chart.
Why are there different prices on exchanges?
Every exchange has its own order book. The volume of buyers and sellers, the liquidity of the trading pair, and the money transfer conditions on the platform affect the price. Liquidity is the ability to trade a certain amount without significantly changing the price. In a shallower market, even a small order can create a larger price movement.
Therefore, it is normal for there to be a difference between the indicator price and the realized purchase price. In rapid movements, there can also be a change between the bid on the screen and the moment the order is matched. Check your transaction result from the average price and commission lines in the exchange’s executed order details, not from the last price screen.
Do you need to buy a whole Bitcoin?
No. One Bitcoin is divided into 100 million satoshis. Amounts such as 0.01 BTC or 0.001 BTC can also be purchased. The platform’s minimum order amount and commission affect the net result of small purchases. To learn how Bitcoin works, you can look at the What is Bitcoin? guide.
How to find the Turkish lira equivalent of Bitcoin
An approximate TL equivalent can be calculated by multiplying the dollar price by the dollar/TL exchange rate at the same time. To see direct TL amounts and convert different BTC amounts, you can use the How much is Bitcoin in TL? page. An exchange offer may deviate from this mathematical equivalent due to the exchange rate used and transaction costs.
