CryptoQuant: Volume Revived by Buying Rather Than Selling as Bitcoin Rose 24%
Trading volume revived during Bitcoin’s rally; spot and perpetual futures transactions reached multi-month peaks in August.
In a post on September 14, CryptoQuant reported that total daily spot trading volume surged to approximately $75 billion on August 21. During the same period, the price of Bitcoin rose by 24 percent.
This spot volume marked the second-highest daily level seen since February. CryptoQuant noted that the increased trading volume this time was driven by buying activity rather than selling pressure.

Highest perpetual futures volume since March
The movement in Bitcoin was not limited to spot transactions. Perpetual futures trading volume rose to approximately $336 billion on August 21. This level stood out as the highest daily volume recorded since March.

The 30-day change across exchanges also showed that the increase in trading activity was broad-based. Gate’s spot trading volume increased by 667 percent in 30 days as of August 25, marking the fastest growth among exchanges in 2026. During the same period, Coinbase’s spot volume rose by 429 percent.

In perpetual futures, the 30-day change as of August 25 was 202 percent for Binance and 184 percent for Bybit.
