CME Makes Futures Move for Two Altcoins: Sets Launch Date

CME Group plans to offer standard and micro futures contracts for Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap. The launch is targeted for October 19, 2026, subject to regulatory review.

According to a CME announcement dated September 21 reported by Wu Blockchain, the company is preparing to add Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Uniswap (UNI) contracts to its crypto derivatives products. These products are intended to expand the tools institutional investors demand to manage their crypto exposure.

Standard and micro contracts for two altcoins

On the Bitcoin Cash side, the standard contract will be sized at 250 BCH, while the micro contract will be sized at 25 BCH. For Uniswap, the standard contract is designed to cover 10,000 UNI, and the micro contract 1,000 UNI.

Micro contracts will allow positions one-tenth the size of standard contracts for both assets. These amounts indicate the size of the asset represented by the contract, not the amount of collateral required to open a trade.

October 19 is the planned launch date for the products. Since the announcement is subject to regulatory review, it does not indicate that the contracts have already begun trading or that the review has been completed.

$8.3 billion in daily crypto derivatives scale

CME’s existing single-asset crypto futures products include Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, Cardano, Chainlink, Stellar, Avalanche and Sui. The BCH and UNI plan would add two new assets to this product family.

According to data cited in the source, CME’s crypto futures and options products reached an average daily trading volume of 279,800 contracts in the first half of 2026. Their daily notional equivalent was approximately $8.3 billion. This scale applies to the total of existing crypto derivatives products; it is not realized volume or demand data for the BCH and UNI contracts, which have not yet launched.
