Bitcoin Profit-Taking Hits Yearly High: Two Warnings for the Rally
Bitcoin’s realized net profit indicator climbed to its highest level of the year, while short-term investors’ unrealized profit margin reached 33%. CryptoQuant viewed these two data points as warnings of fading momentum and correction risk in the rally.
According to on-chain data shared by CryptoQuant, the unrealized profit margin for Bitcoin held for 1 to 3 months rose to its highest level since December 2024. The 33% reading measures the group’s unrealized profit; it does not mean that all Bitcoin investors have made gains at the same rate.
Profit-Taking Indicator at a 2026 High
The daily realized net profit indicator rose to 25.700 BTC, reaching its highest value so far in 2026. This amount is the on-chain-calculated profit expressed in BTC; it is not the number of Bitcoin sold directly on exchanges.
Together, the two data points show that, following the recent rise, profits on holdings have grown and profit realization has accelerated. CryptoQuant counts this combination among the typical signals pointing to a possible loss of momentum in the rally and correction risk.

Warnings, Not a Certain Forecast of a Decline
The unrealized profit margin and realized net profit measure different things: The former tracks the profit status of Bitcoin being held, while the latter tracks net profit realized through on-chain transactions. Therefore, it cannot be concluded that the entire 33% margin has turned into selling.
CryptoQuant’s assessment draws attention to selling pressure from profit-taking following the rise. The post gives no price target or date for a possible correction; nor do the indicators show that a decline has definitely begun.
