Whale Flows to Binance Top $30 Billion: Preparing to Buy Bitcoin?

As the 30-day total of stablecoins sent to Binance by whales rose to $30.5 billion, an increase of more than 40% raised the possibility that they are preparing for new Bitcoin purchases.

According to CryptoQuant’s analysis, there has been a marked recovery in stablecoin inflows from large investors sending more than $1 million to Binance. The 30-day total of stablecoins this group sent to the exchange climbed from $21.7 billion to $30.5 billion in just over a month.

Stablecoins represent liquidity investors can use to buy cryptocurrencies. For this reason, rising transfers to an exchange can signal that large investors are preparing to take positions again. The notable point here is not a single whale’s transaction, but the change in the total volume of large transfers.

Whales’ 30-day stablecoin flows to Binance rise from $21.7 billion to $30.5 billion

A sign of new Bitcoin purchases?

Stablecoin inflows to exchanges are one of the indicators tracked to assess potential buying pressure. However, the $30.5 billion figure does not represent completed Bitcoin purchases; it shows the total stablecoin transfers to Binance over 30 days. How much of that money turns into buying will determine the flow’s impact on the price.

Transfers by large investors had exceeded $61 billion at the previous October peak cited in the analysis. During the prolonged lull that followed, flows declined, while short-term rallies and a willingness to buy the dip stood out during interim recoveries. Despite the latest increase, current flows remain at about half that peak.

Why are whales still cautious?

The analysis argues that a structural trend reversal in Bitcoin has been confirmed, while noting that large investors are using their liquidity more cautiously.

Two different expectations may be behind this caution. On one hand, there is optimism about Bitcoin’s performance in October; on the other, there are conflicts, inflation, and rising bond yields. As more money flows to exchanges, how quickly whales put that liquidity into the market becomes important.
