Bitcoin Reserves on Exchanges Fall by 130,000 BTC: What Could Support Prices?

Bitcoin reserves on exchanges have fallen by about 130,000 BTC since February, and CryptoQuant said shrinking exchange supply could support a long-term rally if demand strengthens.

According to CryptoQuant data, exchange reserves fell from about 2.8 million BTC in February 2026 to 2.67 million BTC. That represents a decrease of about 5 percent from the starting level. The analysis put the price of Bitcoin at about $82,500.

The decline in reserves continued despite sharp price fluctuations throughout the year. The analysis highlighted that the amount of BTC held on exchanges kept falling in recent weeks even as prices recovered from their lows.

Will Strong Demand Accompany Low Exchange Supply?

Exchange reserves show the amount of Bitcoin held in trading platforms’ wallets. CryptoQuant’s assessment suggests that the decline in this amount may reflect a shift to long-term storage wallets or off-exchange custody services.

The key condition for the bullish outlook in the analysis is stronger buying demand. If demand rises while the supply available for trading on exchanges remains low, the balance between supply and demand could shift in favor of prices.

CryptoQuant believes that the continued presence of both conditions could create a favorable backdrop for a long-term rally.
