Investors who recently bought altcoins have gone from selling at a profit to selling at a loss again in about a month, while Bitcoin remained largely flat over the same period.
On-chain analytics platform Glassnode reported that the favorable picture in sales by those who bought altcoins at the end of September quickly reversed. Investors who bought recently were selling most of their tokens at a profit at the time. The jump in profitable sales was the strongest increase seen since December 2024.
About a month later, the balance shifted back toward selling at a loss among the same group of investors. As a result, the opportunity to realize gains at the end of September did not last for most sellers.
Altcoin investors’ fortunes shifted while Bitcoin stayed flat
What stands out is that this reversal happened without a notable move in Bitcoin. While Bitcoin changed little over the same period, most investors who had recently bought altcoins began selling again below their purchase price.
This contrast shows that the losses suffered by altcoin investors could be overlooked by looking only at Bitcoin’s performance. In the group where profitable exits prevailed a month ago, those accepting losses and selling are now in the majority.
