Altcoin Up 42% Sees Yearly High in Interest: What’s Behind the Move?

As social interest in Cardano (ADA), which has risen about 42% since September 16, reaches its highest level of 2026, Santiment pointed to new developments on the network as a factor behind the activity.

According to Santiment’s October 6 analysis, Cardano’s social dominance reached 1,16%. This metric, which shows ADA’s share of cryptocurrency discussions, recorded its highest reading of the year.

During the same period, ADA’s price rose from about $0,19 to $0,27. The platform said the 42% gain has brought Cardano back into investors’ focus.

What developments are driving interest in Cardano?

One development highlighted in the analysis was RealFi’s launch on the Cardano mainnet on October 1. Santiment also cited expectations for Leios, Fireblocks support, and new institutional integrations as factors fueling the increase in discussion.

Thus, expectations around the network’s development and use are accompanying the price move. Santiment’s assessment links the surge in social interest to these developments.

Whale transactions also hit a four-month high

The same analysis reported that the number of ADA transactions worth at least $100,000 rose to 413 in a single day. This was recorded as the highest whale transaction activity since June 4.

The activity in large transactions coincided with ADA’s price increase and social interest reaching its yearly high. The source does not specify whether these transactions were buys or sells; therefore, the increase in the number alone does not show that whales are accumulating ADA.
