Ethereum Falls as Binance Sees Record Withdrawals: Are Investors Preparing to Hold Long Term?

As Ethereum’s price fell 11 percent in three days, Binance’s ETH reserves dropped to a six-month low and withdrawals hit a record, prompting questions about whether investors are preparing to hold for the long term.

According to an analysis published on CryptoQuant, some investors are continuing to move their ETH off exchanges despite the pullback in the crypto market. Over the past three days, the total market cap of altcoins fell by more than $110 billion, while Ethereum’s market cap loss exceeded $38 billion.

Binance’s Ethereum reserves hit a six-month low

Over the same three-day period, Binance’s ETH reserves fell from 3.57 million to 3.47 million. As a result, the exchange’s reserves declined by about 100,000 ETH, reaching their lowest level in the past six months.

The decline in reserves, which stood at 3.92 million ETH in August, reached approximately 11.5 percent compared with the latest figure cited in the analysis.

The decline in reserves was accompanied by a spike in withdrawals. More than 320,000 ETH withdrawal transactions were recorded on October 6, setting a daily record.

What do exchange withdrawals signal as prices fall?

The analysis views this movement as a possible sign that investors want to hold their ETH in their own wallets for longer. Another possibility is that investors are putting their assets to use elsewhere while waiting for a more favorable selling opportunity.

Therefore, the notable point is not only the decline in reserves, but also that withdrawals continued during the price drop. The data is presented as an indicator supporting the analyst’s interpretation that investors are holding for the long term.
