Ethereum Staking Hits Record 36% of Supply Despite Falling Yields!

The amount of Ethereum staked hit a record 43.8 million ETH, while declining staking yields did not stop growth that has continued for six consecutive quarters.

According to Bitwise’s fourth-quarter 2026 staking report, cited by Wu Blockchain, the amount of Ethereum staked reached 35.9% of the total supply. That means more than a third of the network’s ETH is now staked, with the total amount rising for the sixth consecutive quarter.

Staking is the process of using ETH to help validate transactions and secure the network in exchange for potential rewards. The report highlighted a contrast: the amount of ETH committed to this process increased even as the yield declined.

Ethereum staking yield falls to 2.63%

The reported staking yield for Ethereum fell from 2.81% to 2.63%. The difference between the two rates was 0.18 percentage points, while the total amount staked reached a new high.

A similar decline in yield was also seen for Solana. The report put Solana’s staking rate at 69% and said its yield fell from 6.38% to 5.99%. For NEAR, the staking rate was 46%, while the yield stood at 4.87%.

The data shows that growth in Ethereum staking did not come alongside higher yields. The key development in the report is that the amount of ETH committed to network security has continued to rise for six consecutive quarters despite falling yields.
