How an Investor’s $200,000 Altcoin Position Shrank to Just $3,000

An investor who poured approximately $200,000 into the Hunter Biden-themed LAPTOP token is now holding a position worth only $3,000.

According to a September 9 post by Lookonchain, the investor withdrew approximately $250,000 from Binance in advance to buy the LAPTOP token as soon as it hit the market. The post described this purchase as a high-priced FOMO trade.

The investor spent nearly $200,000 to acquire a total of 919 LAPTOP. While the purchase price per token was approximately $218, the current value of the position has plummeted to $3,000. This has resulted in a loss of approximately $197,000 compared to the initial investment amount.

LAPTOP purchase executed in two transactions

Shared transaction records show that 399.6714 LAPTOP were purchased for approximately 100,000 USDC, and another 519.7464 LAPTOP were bought for roughly 100,000 USDC. The two transactions combined amount to approximately 919 LAPTOP.
