Kraken a First in Europe: Crypto, US Stocks, and Tokenized Equities in a Single Account

Kraken today launched its service offering US stocks and tokenized equity products in the same regulated account to eligible customers across the European Economic Area.

Crypto exchange Kraken has expanded US stock trading, which it recently offered on a limited basis in Germany, the Netherlands, and France, to all EEA member states as of today. Customers who meet eligibility requirements can access the service through Kraken Pro’s desktop and mobile versions, as well as the Kraken mobile app.

The company announced that it offers EEA customers more than 7,000 US stocks, over 700 xStocks, and more than 600 crypto assets in the same account. Kraken claimed to be the only crypto-native platform that brings together traditional shares and their tokenized versions represented on the blockchain within a single regulated account. The service will be provided by Payward Europe Digital Solutions (CY) Limited, authorized under the European Union’s investment services regulation, MiFID II.

Kraken Unites US Stocks and xStocks in a Single Account

Kraken’s claim stands out from European competitors in terms of product scope. While Bitpanda offers traditional US stocks, it does not offer tokenized stock trading. Crypto.com and Robinhood offer tokenized US stocks in Europe but do not provide traditional stock trading within the same structure. Kraken offers both options side-by-side on a single platform without requiring capital transfers.

The launch coincides with a period where the share of tokenized stocks in the real-world assets (RWA) market has tripled since the beginning of the year, reaching 15%. The total value of the segment is approximately $2.8 billion, with Ondo Finance, Binance bStocks, and Kraken xStocks together accounting for 77% of the share. Payward, Kraken’s parent company, reported adjusted revenue of $508 million for the second quarter. While total platform trading volume fell 13% year-over-year to $310 billion, the transaction distribution shifted toward stock and tokenized equity products. The company plans to bring the service to more markets in the coming months.
