MoonPay’s ChatGPT and Claude Move: AI Assistants Turn into Financial Agents

MoonPay has introduced PayBox, an AI payment checkout that allows ChatGPT and Claude users to make payments with crypto or cards without leaving the chat window.

Cryptocurrency payment infrastructure provider MoonPay has announced its new product, PayBox, which transforms AI assistants into financial agents. This technology enables users to perform financial transactions directly using popular AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude. Buying a flight ticket or making a restaurant reservation is now as easy as giving a command to the AI.

PayBox is built on the x402 agent payment standard, supported by financial giants like Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, and Shopify. This system provides the industry legitimacy required for AI to make payments securely. Users can purchase flight tickets through BRIJ.fi or shop via Purch.xyz. Furthermore, control of funds remains entirely with the user during these transactions; meaning the system operates on a non-custodial basis.

High-Level Security and DeFi Integration

On the security side, MPC (multi-party computation) technology is used to fragment private keys. This ensures that neither MoonPay nor the AI assistant can access the user’s assets alone. In addition to the model that requires approval for every transaction, users can also opt for an autonomous mode where the assistant can perform transactions on its own within certain limits. The system currently supports networks such as Solana, Ethereum, Base, and Polygon.

MoonPay’s AI vision is not limited to simple payments. DeFi (decentralized finance) features such as token swaps and futures, which will be added to the system next month, will transform PayBox into a comprehensive financial tool. Strategic acquisitions made by the company over the past year, such as Entendre and Dawn Labs, signal this new era at the intersection of AI and cryptocurrencies.
