Ripple Invests in Two Key Firms: A New Era for XRPL Infrastructure Begins

Ripple is strengthening its XRP Ledger (XRPL) infrastructure with regulated financial solutions by making strategic investments in ZILO and Licuido to enhance its efficiency in capital markets.

A leading player in the cryptocurrency world, Ripple has taken another giant step toward bridging traditional finance with blockchain technology. In an announcement on Monday, the company revealed its investment in ZILO, which focuses on transfer agency solutions, and Licuido, a tokenization platform authorized by the UK regulator FCA. This move supports Ripple’s vision of evolving beyond a mere payment network into an end-to-end solution hub for institutional capital markets.

These strategic investments aim to bring critical capabilities such as regulated transfer agency, asset issuance, and collateral mobility to the XRP Ledger (XRPL) infrastructure. ZILO develops fund management technologies for asset managers and custodians, while supporting tokenized share classes during the process of moving investment funds on-chain. On the other hand, Licuido stands out with its infrastructure that enables traditional financial assets to be used as digital collateral.

A New Era in Capital Markets with XRPL

Nigel Khakoo, Senior Vice President of Trading and Markets at Ripple, stated that these deals are a continuation of existing partnerships with giants like Franklin Templeton and DBS. According to Khakoo, asset managers are now focused on utilizing tokenized fund structures at scale. Ripple’s institutional infrastructure aims to address inefficiencies in global markets by combining processes such as asset issuance, custody, and atomic settlement, which refers to instantaneous clearing.

The company is also positioning its own stablecoin, RLUSD, as the regulated cash leg of payment transactions in this process. This is intended to generate solutions for issues such as idle collateral and lengthy settlement times. With its modern and interconnected network structure, as emphasized in its visual identity, Ripple aims to make the XRP Ledger ecosystem a much more attractive and reliable haven for institutional investors.
