Giant Bitcoin Whale Gives Up After One Year: A Sale with a $20 Million Loss is Imminent

A giant Bitcoin whale, dormant for over a year, is preparing to sell at a loss of over $20 million by moving its assets to an exchange.

In cryptocurrency markets, long-term waits do not always result in profit. According to information shared by Lookonchain, which tracks on-chain data, a giant **Bitcoin (BTC)** investor with the wallet address **bc1qyr** broke over a year of silence by conducting a large-scale asset transfer.

The whale in question deposited **625 Bitcoin (BTC)**, which it had withdrawn to its wallet via **Coinbase Prime Custody** about a year ago, into the crypto trading platform **FalconX**. This move is generally interpreted by market experts as preparation for a sale. However, the most striking aspect of this transaction was the massive loss the investor faced.

$20 Million Loss Sale from the Bitcoin Whale

According to the data in the image, the 625 (BTC) were worth approximately **$59.98 million** when the whale first acquired these assets. The current market value of these assets, which were held untouched in the wallet for a year, dropped to **$39.96 million** at the time of transfer. This situation indicates that the investor experienced a loss of **more than $20 million** in value in just one year.

Market fluctuations and price movements can leave even large-scale institutional players in a difficult position. This **million-dollar transfer** following a long period of inactivity is seen as the whale wanting to close its position to avoid further losses. Such large inflows into platforms like FalconX carry the potential to create short-term **selling pressure**.
