Bitcoin Nears $64,000 Threshold Despite 449 BTC Coldcard Theft

Bitcoin has shown resilience by reaching the $64,000 threshold, despite asset losses caused by a security vulnerability in Coldcard wallets.

On the second day of the week, the cryptocurrency market is showing signs of recovery led by the leading cryptocurrency, Bitcoin (BTC). After dipping below the $63,000 level due to selling pressure on Monday, the market managed to recoup its losses with buying activity during the Asian session. As investors set aside security concerns and began buying, the Bitcoin price entered an upward trend once again.

Bitcoin Price Battles for $64,000

The Bitcoin price has gained approximately 2 percent in the last 24 hours, approaching the $64,000 mark. After pulling back to around $62,250 during the day, BTC tested just above $64,100 in the late hours of the night following steady buying from that point.

This upward movement occurred despite a fourth wave of attacks resulting from a software bug in Coldcard hardware wallets. The security breach, which led to the theft of 449 Bitcoins from approximately 709 addresses, did not create lasting pessimism in the market. Analysts are monitoring whether Bitcoin can remain above the $63,000 support during the US session as a critical indicator. This level has been lost and reclaimed twice in the last three days; a third failure could indicate that fewer buyers are stepping in during each pullback below $62,500.

In the altcoin market, Ethereum (ETH) traded sideways around the $1,865 level, becoming the only major asset to remain in the red on a weekly basis. BNB (BNB) stood out with a nearly 5% weekly increase, while Solana (SOL) is trading at $74 and XRP (XRP) at $1.08. Dogecoin (DOGE), the leader of the meme coin segment, is trying to maintain its position in the $0.07 range.

Stock markets presented a mixed outlook. Nasdaq 100 futures rose 0.4%, supported by Palantir’s 14% post-earnings surge, while Amazon shares fell 1.6% in after-hours trading following Jeff Bezos’s announcement of a share sale. The MSCI Asia Pacific index declined by 0.7% for the second consecutive day.
