Metaplanet Isn’t Stopping at 44,000 Bitcoin: Reveals Plan for More Purchases

Metaplanet plans to allocate part of its assets to investments that generate regular income and use the resulting cash flow to support new Bitcoin purchases, growing its 44,000 BTC holdings.

According to the capital allocation policy dated October 5, as reported by Wu Blockchain, the company aims to hold approximately 85–90% of its total assets in Bitcoin and 10–15% in strategic investments. As of September 30, Metaplanet held 44,000 BTC.

Targeting regular income to fund new Bitcoin purchases

At the heart of the new plan is the company’s approach, which it calls its net interest income strategy. The goal is to generate regular cash flow and use that income to grow its Bitcoin holdings. The strategic investment allocation will cover mergers and acquisitions, income-generating securities, and capital allocated to asset management activities.

Under the roadmap announced by the company, cash flow is expected to strengthen its financing capacity and credit quality, which in turn would support additional Bitcoin purchases and an increase in the amount of BTC per share. This would allow Bitcoin to remain the main component of its assets while other investments serve as a source of income to grow its holdings.

Limits on borrowing and share issuance

Metaplanet plans to generally keep its Bitcoin-related borrowings below approximately 10% of its net asset value in BTC. Bitcoin-backed loans will be used as temporary bridge financing, with a gradual transition to permanent equity financing over time.

Common stock issuance will be used selectively when the company’s market capitalization-to-net asset value ratio, or mNAV, is above 1 and when it is deemed to create value for existing shareholders. This condition reflects the goal of ensuring that financing raised by issuing new shares benefits shareholders.
