5% of Ethereum Supply Held in a Single Company’s Treasury: BitMine Buys Again
BitMine, which holds the world’s largest institutional Ethereum treasury, purchased an additional 9,926 ETH last week, increasing its reserves to 5,815,164 ETH—approximately 4.8% of the total Ethereum supply.
According to the company update shared by Wu Blockchain, BitMine’s weekly net ETH purchases resulted in a 9,926 ETH increase in its total reserves compared to the previous period. The company has thus brought its Ethereum accumulation to the 5.82 million ETH level.

In addition to reserve growth, the company is also leveraging its ETH holdings to generate revenue. 5,067,309 ETH of BitMine’s holdings are currently staked, representing approximately 87% of the total reserve. Staking is utilized as a method to generate yield by deploying crypto assets on the network. The company anticipates an annualized staking income of approximately $250 million from these positions. However, this figure represents the company’s projection rather than realized earnings.

Share transactions also featured prominently in the weekly balance sheet. The company repurchased 1.7 million of its own shares over the last seven days. The total buyback volume since July has exceeded 20.8 million shares. Consequently, BitMine continued its share buyback program alongside its ETH accumulation.
As of August 16, BitMine’s total assets—including crypto holdings, cash, securities, and other investments—stand at $11.4 billion. The company update highlighted the weekly ETH purchase in the context of the institution’s overall treasury and staking operations.
