50,000 Bitcoin Left Exchanges in Two Weeks: Is the Supply Available for Sale Shrinking?

According to CoinGlass data, around 50,000 Bitcoin left exchanges over the past two weeks, as the decline in exchange wallet balances has renewed attention on the supply available for sale.

CoinGlass’s October 2 post highlighted a notable decline in the amount of Bitcoin held on exchanges. The outflow of around 50,000 BTC reflects a change in the combined balances of the exchanges being tracked, rather than a transfer by a single investor.

Why are declines in exchange balances being monitored?

Bitcoin leaving exchange wallets is monitored because it reduces the amount of assets that could be offered for sale on these platforms. Holding less Bitcoin on exchanges is a supply indicator that could become important for prices when buying demand strengthens.

However, this post does not distinguish whether the outflows stem from investor accumulation or changes in custody arrangements. The data therefore shows that exchange balances have declined, but does not, on its own, provide a definitive bullish signal.

CoinGlass chart showing Bitcoin’s price and BTC balances on exchanges

A notable move within a balance of around 2.5 million BTC

At the point selected for September 20, 2026, the chart shows an exchange balance of 2.50 million BTC. The roughly 50,000 BTC outflow over two weeks amounts to 2 percent of that balance.

This comparison illustrates the scale of the outflow; the balance shown for the selected date on the chart is not being used as the current total balance.
