Bitcoin Dominance Shaken on Binance: Altcoins Capture 60% of Trading Volume
As investor interest in the cryptocurrency market shifts away from Bitcoin (BTC), altcoins have declared their dominance by capturing 60 percent of the trading volume on Binance.
Data from Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, points to a remarkable change in market strategy. While the Bitcoin price, which has been trading within a specific range for a long time, creates a sense of “stagnation” among investors, spot trading volumes have retreated to 2023 bear market levels. This situation indicates that market participants have shifted their course toward more volatile altcoin options.
Bitcoin, which accounted for approximately 40 percent of the trading volume alone in May, has lost this superiority according to current data. According to the shared charts, altcoins’ volume share has risen above 60 percent, while Bitcoin’s share has dropped to 22 percent and Ethereum’s (ETH) share to 18 percent. Instead of Bitcoin’s low volatility—meaning price fluctuation—investors prefer to try their luck with altcoins that undergo sharp corrections and carry fast recovery potential.
Massive Explosion in Altcoin Volume
The data proves that altcoin volume dominance gained significant momentum, especially toward the end of July. While the Bitcoin price has been stuck in a narrow range for weeks, investors have increased their risk appetite in expectation of higher returns. The fact that altcoins have experienced much deeper declines compared to Bitcoin creates a magnet for investors who see these assets as a “buy the dip” opportunity.
While this strategic shift triggers expectations of new market activity, it also carries serious risks. When Bitcoin’s overall trading weight in the market decreases, price movements in altcoins can become much more volatile. Although this situation is risky for investors unable to manage strategic positions, the current picture clearly demonstrates that interest in the crypto world has shifted to alternative assets, at least in the short term.
