Bitcoin Profit-Taking Nears Yearly High: Santiment Warns of Pressure on Rally

Santiment reported that Bitcoin’s daily realized profit reached $1.03 billion, the second-highest level of the year, noting that heavy profit-taking could put pressure on the rally.

The metric shared by the on-chain analytics platform shows that coins in profit became active after Bitcoin recently climbed above $87,000. Daily realized profit came in just below the 2026 peak of approximately $1.04 billion.

The realized profit indicator tracks the gains on Bitcoin moved on-chain by comparing their value during previous movements with their new value. Santiment links large positive spikes in this metric to many investors realizing profits during the same period.

Why does profit-taking matter for price?

According to the platform, increases of this scale are often seen around periods when the market loses momentum in the short and medium term. Heavy profit-taking can increase selling pressure, while a price decline can prompt other investors and leveraged positions to exit the market as well.

Santiment’s focus is on how much of the gains following the rally turn into selling. It views daily realized profit above $1 billion as a data point indicating that the resilience of Bitcoin’s recent rally is being tested.

This assessment does not predict a definite trend reversal; the analysis focuses on the selling pressure facing the rally as profit-taking intensifies.
