Bitcoin Shows Resilience Despite Nvidia: Critical Divergence Near the $65,000 Mark

Bitcoin is signaling a decoupling from traditional markets by showing resilience at the $65,000 level, despite selling pressure in AI stocks.

The cryptocurrency market is demonstrating a strong stance against a wave of selling led by tech giants, particularly Nvidia’s 4.8% decline. Bitcoin (BTC) has established itself near the $65,000 mark with its performance since the weekend, boosting investor sentiment by gaining 4% since Friday. While the Nasdaq index remained flat with support from giants like Apple and Google, Bitcoin’s divergence is drawing significant attention.

LMAX Group strategist Joel Kruger describes digital assets beginning to decouple from traditional risk assets as an “encouraging” step. Kruger argues that for the Bitcoin price, breaking the $67,300 level could end the stagnation that has lasted for months. On the Ethereum (ETH) side, the ETH/BTC ratio reaching a three-month high stands out as another factor supporting general market optimism.

Critical Resistance and Retracement Risks for Bitcoin

However, not every analyst is equally optimistic about this rally. Nansen analyst Nicolai Sondergaard points out that there is no strong buyer base behind the rally, and the decline in open interest data indicates that investors are acting cautiously. Despite approximately 9,000 (BTC) flowing out of exchanges last week, Sondergaard warns that if the selling pressure in order books continues, the price could retreat to the $52,000 to $58,000 range.

Fed and Inflation Data to Drive Market Volatility

The biggest test for crypto assets this week will be the busy macroeconomic calendar. Wednesday’s Fed interest rate decision and Thursday’s core PCE inflation data will determine the market’s medium-term direction. Additionally, earnings reports from tech giants like Microsoft and Amazon, along with approximately $14 billion in option contracts set to expire on Friday, have the potential to increase volatility for Bitcoin.
